Cut Through The Clutter-Before It's Too Late

Today I attended the funeral of a friend. At 36, she had so much more life to live. She left behind 3 children, numerous friends and a legacy of smiles and love. Such days always cause me to cut away the clutter in my life and reflect on what is REALLY important. As my family and I travelled to the cemetery I reminded myself that if we could reverse time, we would have made better use of the moments we had with her. There would have been much more laughter, smiles and joy.

The next time you are feeling overwhelmed with everything in work and life, distill things down to what you see as the 3-4 most important roles in your life. While work is an important part of your life, it should not be the most identifying element of your existence. But as I say that, I wonder what it might be for you? And do I live like I know what it is for me? Or do I often waste opportunities to live it out?

Days like today remind me that I better get it straight in my head-and heart-or I may not get another chance to really live instead of just exist.
